George Howard is a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coach Federation. He is owner of Howard Coaching Group LLC and co-owner of Coach Approach Skill Training LLC. George has over 1300 hours of coaching and has trained over 1000 leaders in the coach approach skills.
Formerly he was the Executive Director, Global Coaching for Global Ministries, United Methodist Church. As an executive he was responsible for training coaches across the world working with leaders in cross cultural settings, and most recently training a team of coaches at Africa University in Zimbabwe who are developing a culture of coaching at the University including new coach approach courses for students.
Prior to joining the Global Ministries Executive leadership team he served on its Board of Directors. He was Director of Training and Development at Community Development for All People in Columbus Ohio. In that capacity he developed a training center which worked with leaders from across the United States interested in working with the poor, and in increasing leadership capacity for their community programs. He also worked for 16 years on the staff of the West Ohio Conference as Director of Learning and Leadership.
He brings a passion for increasing the capacity of leaders and an asset based approach to both individual and community development. His work extends across the United States and around the world, especially to Africa where he has worked and lived.
Before coming to the Conference he was Vice President with Preston International from 1987-1994, and Director with the Institute of Cultural Affairs, a community and organizational development organization, in Australia, Venezuela and the United States from 1975 – 1987. He worked in community development and renewal, and designed and facilitated strategic planning and training processes for communities, corporations, government agencies, and not for profit organizations.
He is the father of two married daughters, Kathryn and Jennifer, a grandfather, and lives with his wife Eileen in Atlanta, Georgia.
